WANKULUKUKU – Express FC were held to a 1-1 draw by Bright Stars at Wankulukuku on Tuesday afternoon.
The Red Eagles who came into the game on the back of a 0-1 loss at the hands of Bul FC last weekend took the lead through Frank Ssenyondo but conceded via a Joseph Janjali strike later in the first half.
The result leaves both sides without victory in their opening two matches and calls for Express head coach George Ssemwogere to resign continue.
The game started on a bright note for the hosts as thwy raced into the lead inside three minutes through Ssenyondo.
The forward reacted first to a rebound after Bright Stars custodian Nicholas Ssebwato had spilled a Frank Kalanda shot.
Kalanda nearly doubled Express’ lead moments later but fired wide after rounding Ssebwato.
As the first half wore on, the visitors grew into the game and started asking questions at the other end.
Janjali eventually restored parity, lashing onto Methodius Jungu’s through pass before beating Joshua Adea in the Red Eagles’ goal and slotting into an empty net.
Express got the best chance to take all three points but substitute Axel Konen shot over after collecting a pass by Ssenyondo.
Ssenyondo was named man of the match for his performance on the day, which included scoring the opening goal.
Up next is a home game for Express on Saturday, September 7th while Bright Stars are away to Busoga United on the same day.
