CHAN 2020 Qualifiers – Second Round
Burundi 0-3 Uganda
Intwari Stadium, Bujumbura
Saturday, 21-09-2019
The Uganda Cranes took a gigantic step towards sealing qualification for the CHAN 2020 finals following a 3-0 victory over Burundi on Saturday.
Abdallah Mubiru’s side who were playing the first leg of their second round qualifiers in Bujumbura cruised to victory thanks to goals from Viane Sekajugo, Muzamir Mutyaba and Mustapha Kizza.
Sekajugo opmed the scoring on 12 minutes to set the tone for Uganda.
Mutyaba made it 2-0 just under 20 minutes from time to compound the Cranes dominance.
The flow of the game was a fine setting for left-back Mustapha Kizza to lash in the third off substitute Mike Mutyaba’s pass.
The result almost see Uganda through to the finals’ tournament as they will still go through even with a 2-0 loss in the second leg which will be played on the 18th of October in Kampala.
Uganda is attempting to reach the 5th consecutive CHAN tournament.
However, they have never progressed past the group stages.
