CHAN 2020 Qualifiers
Uganda vs Burundi
Stade Intwari, Bujumbura
Friday, 21-09-2019
Busoga United forward Joel Madondo has replaced the ineligible Edrisa Lubega as the Uganda Cranes continue preparations for the upcoming CHAN qualifiers.
Lubega is ineligible for the game after re-joining his Parent club Proline FC from Austrian club SV Reid, only last month.
Madondo is only one of two changes made to the side with Uganda Revenue Authority goalkeeper James Alitho the other.
Alitho replaces SC Villa custodian Saidi Keni. The reason for Keni’s dropping is still a mystery.
Abdallah Mubiru’s side held another training session on Monday morning and will resume later in the day.
Speaking after the morning session, Mubiru noted that his side is trying to improve on their defensive abilities.
“Everyone is trying hard as they try to compete for a spot on the first team, said Mubiru.
“We are trying to improve defensively and how fast we can make a transition into attack after we recover possession.”
About Burundi, the tactician who also doubles as Police FC head coach had this to say;
“Burundi is a strong and experienced side which plays good football but we are prepared enough and i am optimistic we will get the job done.”
The Cranes have been training since Wednesday, September 11th and are understood to have a build-up game on Tuesday against the Hippos (National U20 men’s team). The game will be played at the FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.

The Cranes will take on Burundi on Friday at the Stade Intwari in Bujumbura in the first leg of the 2020 CHAN second-round qualifiers.
