KAMPALA – Michael Birungi will feature for Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URA FC) for the next two seasons.
The dread-locked winger signed a two-year deal with Sam Simbwa’s side on Wednesday, September 4th.
His capture was confirmed by the club via their official Twitter handle:
“Welcome home Birunji.” Read a tweet by URA FC.
Birungi joins URA as a free agent after his two year deal at Express FC expired at the back end of last season.
Speaking after putting pen to paper, Birungi was quick to note that he wants to help URA FC win trophies.
“I am pleased to join URA FC which is, without doubt, one of the best teams in the country, said Birungi.
“I have come here to help the team win trophies and go back to its glory days.
“I am also pleased to join the great group of players at URA FC and hopefully, we can work together to lift trophies again for this club.
“I am here to give my best. By best I mean 110%.”
Birungi who has also played for KCCA FC and Police FC, had a decent stay at Express since joining them in 2017.
He was arguably the Red Eagles best player in the 2017/18 season, one that saw them survive relegation on the last day of the campaign.
At URA FC, he joins a host of other new signings who include Ivan Sserubiri, Ntege Anwar, Ivan Ntege, and Ashraf Mandela among others.
URA have already played two games this season. They defeated Maroons FC 3-0 on opening day before losing 3-1 away to Wakiso Giants on Match-day two.
Their next fixture sees them take on Kyetume at Mandela National Stadium.
