PSG will be hoping to return to winning ways in Ligue One when they travel away to Bordeaux on Saturday afternoon.
The defending champions suffered a shock loss to Reims in their latest fixture, losing 2-0 at the Parc de Princes this past Wednesday.
The defeat to Reims is unacceptable as per the standards that the Parisians have set in the past and Saturday’s fixture will be viewed as a must-win for Tomas Tuchel’s side.
Having rested a host of players in the mid-week, the German will be expected to field his best available IX in the hunt for a 6th victory of the season.
Tomas Munier, Thiago Silva, Marquinhos and Angel Di Maria are all expected to make a return to the starting team alongside Marco Verrati who was suspended for the last game.
However, PSG will still be without the injured Kylian Mbappe, Edinson Cavani, Mauro Icardi, Thillo Kehrer and Julian Draxler. The good news is that Eric Maxim Choupo-Mouting has recovered from a knock and should be available for selection.
For Bordeaux, they come into the game on a six-game unbeaten run (W3 D3).
Paulo Sousa’s side are fresh from a 3-1 win away to Amiens on Wednesday and will be confident they can pull off a good result against an injury-stricken PSG side.
However, they have not beaten PSG since March 2015 and have gone on to lose 6 of the past meetings whilst drawing just twice. Last Season’s reverse fixture ended 2-2 before Bordeaux lost 1-0 at PSG in the second game.
The opening fixture of the Ligue One match-day 8 will see Lyon host Nantes in the lunch-time kick-off.
Lyon are desperate for a victory after going all their last five league games without winning (D3 L2).
Their last victory came in the 6-0 win at Amiens on match-day two and since then, they have been struggling.
Lyon’s last fixture ended in a 2-2 draw at Brest and with pressure starting to accumulate on head coach Sylvinho, they must win on Saturday.
However, coming up against Nantes will be complicated as the visitors are currently enjoying their best start to a top-flight campaign in ages.
After 7 rounds, Nantes are in 4th with 13 points and have won four of their last 5 games.
In mid-week, they beat Rennes 1-0 at home, momentum enough to take them to Lyon full of confidence.
Last season, Nantes did not lose to Lyon as they picked up a point away from home before winning their home fixture 2-1.
