WAKISO – Karim Ndugwa came off the bench to score twice as Wakiso Giants beat URA FC 3-1 at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Tuesday afternoon.
Ndugwa who was also celebrating his birthday on the same day scored just minutes after replacing Geoffrey Sserunkuma to put Wakiso 2-1 up in the contest.
He then doubled his tally later to ensure that Kefa Kisala’s side register their first points of the season.
Initially, the Purple Sharks who lost 0-1 away to KCCA FC on match-day one, had taken a one minute lead through summer signing Tom Matsiko.

However, they initial lead lasted just 7 minutes before the in-form Saidi Kyeyune equalized for the visitors.
Just past the half hour mark, Viane Sekajugo had head wide from close range as Wakiso took control of the game.
Two minutes from the break, the hosts were forced into an early change as captain Yasin Mugabi was forced off and replaced by Derrick Emukule.
It was a game that saw both side have dominant spells but it was Wakiso who took the day in the end.
Speaking after the game, Wakiso head coach Kefa Kisala could not hide his excitement for winning the game.
“We scored three goals and we solved the problem of scoring which saw us walk away with three points, noted Kisala.
“The team played really well and managed the pressure well.
“URA attacked us especially in the first 15 minutes of the second half but the players responded well.
“It is a good win for us because we are a new team and we taking on a good side.”
Wakiso’s next assignments sees them take on Tooro United at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium while URA will host Kyetume at the Mandela National Stadium in Namboole.
