URA FC 0-0 Kyetume FC
Mandela National Stadium, Namboole
Friday, 06-09-2019
URA FC’s title credentials were cast into further doubt on Friday when they were held to a goalless draw at home to Kyetume FC in the Uganda Premier League.
The Tax Collectors who were coming off a 1-3 loss away to Wakiso Giants on match-day two could not break down a well organised Kyetume side despite dominating proceedings.
URA had three good chances to take the lead and probably win the game but could not beat Salim Sowedi who was standing in for Joel Mutakubwa. Mutakubwa is currently away with the National team that is set to take on Kenya in an international friendly on Sunday.
Hudu Mulika and Hassan Kalega Gaata both saw good attempts go wide while Yeseri Waibi shot straight at Sowedi.
Kyetume were more intent on taking home at least a point and never really troubled URA at the other end.
The home side introduced Ssenyonga Mikidad for debutant Michael Birungi while Steven Munguchi and Ronald Kigongo came on for Kalega and Ojera respectively, but still couldn’t find a breakthrough.
Kyetume FC’s Isaac Kirabira, who joined as a free agent from KCCA FC, was named man of the match in a dull affair.
The draw means that URA FC who are highly expected to challenge both KCCA and Vipers for this year’s crown, have already dropped five points in three games.
For Kyetume, they have managed four points – They beat SC Villa in the league opener and lost to Maroons at Luzira on match-day two.
URA FC and Kyetume are to face KCCA (A) and Proline FC (H) in their next fixtures.
