
Juventus climbed to the top of the Serie A table on Sunday night following a 2-1 victory away to Inter Milan.
In the first derby d’Italia clash of the season, Paulo Dybala opened the scoring for the visitors inside 4 minutes but Lautaro Martinez levelled for Inter 14 minutes later. With 10 minutes to play, Gonzalo Higuain scored his second goal of the season to ensure Juve takes all three points.
The old Lady now moves top of the log with 19 points from their first 7 games. They are now one point ahead of second-placed Inter who dropped their first points of the season on Sunday.
Third place is now occupied by Atalanta who were 3-1 winners at home to Lecce on the same day.
Duvan Zapata, Alejandro Gomez and Robin Gosens scored the goals for Atlanta while Fabio Lucioni grabbed Lecce’s consolation.
Atalanta have now gathered 16 points this season while Lecce drop to 18th place after collecting just six points.
In the battle for Europe, none of the teams occupying 4th spot to 7th won their respective fixtures as they all drew. Fourth-placed Napoli drew 0-0 at Torino, Roma who are fifth were held to a 1-1 draw at home to 7th placed Cagliari while 6th placed Lazio drew 2-2 away to Bologna.
Elsewhere, SPAL beat Parma 1-0, Hellas Verona were 2-0 winners at home to Sampdoria, Milan powered past Genoa 2-1 away from home while Fiorentina scrapped past Udinese 1-0.
In Germany, Borussia Monchengladbach climbed on top of the standings this past weekend after thrashing Augsburg 5-1 on Sunday afternoon.
Patrick Hermann helped himself to a brace while Denis Zakaria, Alassane Plea and Breel Embolo each scored once in the victory. Florian Neiderchner struck Augsburg’s consolation on the day.
Gladbach now have 16 points from 7 games and sit just a point above second-placed Wolfsburg.
For Wolfsburg, they were 1-0 winners at home to Union Berlin on the same day with striker Wout Weghorst scoring the only goal of the afternoon.
None of the sides between third and 9th registered victories in their respective fixtures this past weekend.
Bayern lost 2-1 at home to Hoffenheim, Freiburg and Dortmund drew 2-2, Beyer Leverkusen held RB Leipzig to a 1-1 draw while Schalke 04 drew 0-0 at home to Koln.

Elsewhere, Hertha Berlin defeated Fortuna Dusseldorf 3-1, Mainz were 2-1 winners away to Paderborn while Frankfurt drew 2-2 with Werder Bremen.
In the Spanish La Liga, Real Madrid maintained top spot thanks to a 4-2 victory at home to Granada.
By the 61st minute, Madrid had raced into a 3-0 lead thanks to goals by Karim Benzema, Edin Hazard and Luka Modric. Granada fought back and scored twice thanks to Darwin Machis and Domingos Durte but James Rodriguez made the points safe for Real with a 90th-minute strike.
The victory sees Real move to 18 points and remains the only unbeaten side in the division.

Second place is now occupied by Barcelona who thrashed Sevilla 4-0 on Sunday night.
Luis Suarez, Arturo Vidal, Ousmane Dembele and Lionel Messi scored the goals th Dembele and Ronald Araujo sent off late in the game.
Barca are now two points behind the leaders Real and one ahead of Atletico Madrid who sit in 3rd.
For Atletico, they drew 0-0 away to Real Valladolid on the same day, their third draw of the season.
Elsewhere, Osasuna stunned Villarreal 2-1, Mallorca beat Espanyol 2-0, Getafe defeated Real Sociedad 2-1, Celta Vigo were 1-0 winners at home to Bilbao while Levante scrapped to a 2-1 victory away to Leganes.
In France, PSG maintained top spot as they dispatched Angers 4-0 on Saturday afternoon.
A goal each by Pablo Sarabia, Mauro Icardi, Idrissa Gueye and Neymar Jr did the damage for the Parisians who now move to 21 points in 9 games.

For Angers who started the weekend in 2nd, they now drop into 3rd on the standings with 16 points.
Second spot is currently occupied by Nantes who required a Moses Simon 86th minute strike to take care of Nice on Saturday night. Nantes are now just two points behind PSG.
The other two giants of French football-Marseille and Lyon both lost their respective fixtures this past weekend.
Marseille lost 3-1 away to Amiens on Friday while Lyon were beaten 1-0 at Saint Etienne on Sunday.
Elsewhere, Dijon beat Strasbourg 1-0, Montpellier were 3-1 winners at home to Monaco, Bordeaux defeated Toulouse 3-1 away from home, Brest over-powered Metz 2-0 while Reims powered past Rennes 1-0.
