Maroons FC vs KCCA FC
Luzira Prisons Stadium, Luzira
Tuesday, 22-10-2019 @4:30pm
LUZIRA – KCCA FC will be hoping to win a second successive victory when they take on Maroons FC on Tuesday afternoon.
After a run of three games minus victory, KCCA beat Onduparaka 4-0 last time out to return to winning ways.
It has been a trying few weeks for Mike Mutebi’s side as they were eliminated from the CAF Champions League and subsequently dropped to the Confederations cup.
That same period has also seen them drop behind in the race for the league title and currently sit 9 points off the top despite playing two games less than leaders BUL.
The game against Maroons comes as a must win for the Kasasiros as they can not afford to drop more points at this stage of the campaign.
“We expect a tough challenge from Maroons FC, noted Mike Mutebi ahead of the game.
“They play a good brand of football but we are ready for the challenge.
“After getting that huge win against Onduparaka, i expect the players to build on that win and keep going till the end.
“It is important that the National team players are back and there was positivity in camp in the training sessions ahead of this fixture.
“The competition in the side is good for us coaches and players.
KCCA FC will be welcoming back Sadat Anaku who has recovered from injury. Muzamiru Mutyaba commenced light jogging last week and resumed full training on Monday but this game comes too soon for him. Julius Poloto has stepped up his rehabilitation and could be back soon. Eric Ssenjobe, Jurua Hassan, and Sadam Juma are all ruled out due to injury.
Maroons head into the game with a few off-field incidents. Forward Rashid Agau has gone missing and the club does not know his way abouts.
“The only disappointment to our predations leading to this game is Agau who has gone AWOL (in Arua) since we afforded the team a three days’ break,” read a post on Maroons’ official Facebook page.
Agau has been important to the team having scored against Kyetume FC this season and was the club’s leading goal scorer last season with seven goals.
All that will first be put aside when they take on KCCA FC this afternoon.
Maroons enjoyed a brilliant start to the season but their form has started deteriorating of late.
In their last four games, they have managed just a single victory whilst losing twice and drawing one.
However, they have not lost any of their last two, beating Mbarara City FC and drawing against SC Villa.
