Busoga United vs Police FC
Mighty Arena, Jinja
Saturday, 12-10-2019 @4pm
Police FC will be hoping to finally get their season off and running when they take on Busoga United at the Mighty Arena on Saturday afternoon.
The Cops have so far endured a trying season and currently sit second from bottom with just two points from their first 7 games.
Two (points) should have been five but after failing to honour their match-day one fixture away to Onduparaka FC, Abdallah Mubiru’s side were docked three points which left them scrambling in the relegation zone.
As they are trying to mount a surge up the table, they have once again been the architects of their own down fall as their defence has been leaking goals for fun.
Currently Police have conceded the most number of goals in the division this season (14) including 8 in the last two games.
They were beaten 5-3 by Express FC before losing 3-1 to Vipers.
As if that is not enough, their goal keeping department has been rocked with school-boy performances as highlighted by Hilary Jomi who conceded a freak goal in the Vipers game prompting an early substitution and it is believed he may have played his last game for the Cops.
Going into the game on Saturday, Abdallah Mubiru has a few concerns regarding their recent visits to Jinja and it would be fair to say that winning there is highly in doubt.
“We have have always had tricky ties in Jinja, noted Mubiru.
“It has always been complicated when ever we go there as they are strong and we are not treated fairly either.
“The officials are always biased and all i pray that God helps us so that their is good officiating.
“We are not in a good place currently and all we pray is that we start winning games so as we climb up the table.”
For Busoga, the snapped a two game losing streak and have not lost any of their last two.
They drew 1-1 with SC Villa be fore beating Proline 1-0 away from home on Wednesday.
The four points earned from the last two games ensured they climb up the table into 6th with 10 points and victory will be all they desire against Police.
“We are in high spirits after taking four point off SC Villa and Proline in our last two games, said Busoga head coach Abby Kikomeko ahead of the game.
“We are taking on Police FC who love maintaining possession but i am sure at home, we will be able to put up a good show and hopefully take all three points.”
Match facts
This will be the 7th meeting between the two sides.
In the past 6, the two have never drawn a game with each winning three.
This fixture always produces home wins with each side winning the three matches they have hosted.
Last season, Busoga defeated Police 1-0 in the reverse fixture.
Going into the game, Busoga United have won only three of their 8 games (D1 L4).
At home, Kikomeko’s side have won just one of their four games so far this season (D1 L2).
For Police, they have won only one of their first 7 games of the season (D2 L4).
Away from home, the Cops have lost two, won one and drawn the other of their four games.
