
KAMPALA – The Uganda Premier League (UPL) Secretariat has confirmed that Wakiso Giants will host their next game at Wankulukuku.
The Purple Sharks are slatted to take on Mbarara City FC in their match-day 7 UPL fixture.
According to a letter signed by UPL Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bernard Bainamani on Thursday-September 03rd, the game has been moved from the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium where Wakiso host their games to Betway Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
“The Secretariat has received a letter from Wakiso Giants FC requesting to change the venue for M#51 Wakiso Giants FC vs Mbarara City FC from Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium-Wakiso to Betway Muteesa II Stadium-Wankulukuku because the stadium was earlier booked for another activity by the owners. “The Secretariat has granted their request and the said match will be played at Betway Muteesa II Stadium- Wankulukuku. Kick-off time and date remain unchanged.”
This will be the first time Wakiso Giants FC hosts a game at Wankulukuku.
Since the start of the season, they have been playing their home games at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.
In total, they have played three games there, winning two and losing the other. They defeated both URA FC and Tooro United FC at the venue before losing 1-0 to Bul in their latest fixture.
However, this will be the second time that they play at Wankulukuku this season.
The first came in a 1-1 draw against Bright Stars on match-day four.
Wakiso will head into the game desperate for points having lost both of their last two games.
After losing to Bul at home, Kefa Kisala’s side went on to lose 1-0 away to Onduparaka FC in their latest league encounter.
The Purple Sharks are currently 8th on the league log with 7 points gathered from their first 6 games.
