Express FC vs KCCA FC
Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Wakissha
Wednesday, 13-11-2019 @4pm
WAKISSHA – Express FC and KCCA FC will square off at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium on Wednesday afternoon in one of the dying rivalries of Ugandan football.
In the past, these two sides along with SC Villa, were the heavyweights of Ugandan football but times have changed.
Whilst KCCA have since remained strong, Express have fallen behind and as recent as 2017, they were struggling to fend off relegation.
When the two meet on Wednesday at the Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, their ambitions this season are once again different.
The Red Eagles want to finish as high as possible on the table while KCCA FC are eyeing a defence of the title they won last season.
With Vipers SC virtually unstoppable at the moment, the Kasasiros know they cannot afford any slip ups or they risk falling far off the pace.
After bowing out of continental football at the start of the month, Mike Mutebi’s side returned to league action with a hard fought 3-2 victory over Police in the last game.
They win means that they have now triumphed in all their last three league games and will be hoping to use that momentum to get past their ex-rivals.
For Express, they will be seeking to return to winning ways on Wednesday.
George Ssemwogerere’s side are coming off a disappointing 2-2 draw in their last game at home to Maroons, one that they led 2-0 at some stage.

However, they have not lost any of their last two, having defeated Wakiso Giants 3-0 on match-day 12.
The only concern for them is that they have been average since the season started and their performances against the big boys have been woeful as they have already lost to both Vipers SC and SC Villa.
What they are saying ahead of the game
Mike Mutebi, KCCA FC head coach
“We are well prepared for the game because this is supposed to be a derby and we expect a tough game.
“Express have been good lately and i expect a good challenge but i think we have enough to win.”
George Ssemwogerere, Express FC head coach
“This is a big game and my players are very much aware of it.
“We have prepared well and hopefully we walk away with all three points.
“KCCA FC come into it as favourites but we want to win and that is what we will set out to do.”
Team news
KCCA FC will have Mustafa Kizza, John Revita and Muzamir Mutyaba back after featuring for the national team in thw Regional Tour. However, Charles Lukwago, Nicholas Kasozi and Allan Okello are still away with the Cranes who take on Burkina Faso in an AFCON qualifier on Wednesday night. The Kasasiros are also still without long term absentees Julius Poloto and Saddam Juma.
For Express, they have no fresh injuries so Ssemwogere is expected to name a unchanged side from that that drew against Maroons on Saturday.
Match Facts
This will be the 21st meeting between the two sides since 2010.
In the previous 20 meetings, KCCA FC have won 9, Express 4 with the other 7 all ending in draws.
KCCA FC have been enjoying a good run in this fixture, winning 5 of the last 7 meetings whilst losing just once and drawing the other.
However, Express won the reverse fixture 3-2 last season.
