At exactly mid-day on Thursday, out-going URA FC Chief Executive Officer (CEO) walked into the BUL FC offices in Masese.
His sole purpose there, was to hold an interview as he hopes to seal the vacant CEO role at the Uganda Premier League.
Kakembo is understood to be eyeing the role as his tenure at URA FC comes to an end later this month (November).
He joined URA FC last year and after a period of 12 months at the Tax Collectors, he looks set to move on.
The CEO role at BUL FC fell vacant in August following the departure of Salmin Saleh whose contract was not renewed.
Following last week’s appointment of Ronald Barente as club Chairman replacing Silver Alias, BUL have since stepped up their pursuit of a new CEO and on Thursday, interviews were conducted.
Kakembo is highly tipped to take-up on the role as his resume speaks volumes about his capabilities.
Kakembo is FUFA Certified Club Chief Executive Officer, having successfully graced the FUFA Administration and Management Course and would add immense value to any club in the country.
He is also CAF / FUFA Club licensing certified, an expert in Commercial and Contract law, a consultant as well as a players’ and coaches’ representative.
As a CEO at Sports Club Villa between 2014 to 2018, Kakembo revived the club fan base back to stadia, secured the StarTimes sponsorship, built a strong club Public Relations System with club branding of up to 30,000 media contacts and ensured international player sales.
He also worked as CEO at Nyamityobora and as a player recruitment analyst at the University of Pretoria.
At URA FC, Kakembo has overseen the setting up of an independent and functional Secretariat office that works closely with the club board and currently sits down at a known station point to plan for the club development unlike in the past.
He has engineered the recruitment of several players this summer and despite his differences with some of the Authority’s other major players, Kakembo has indeed ensured the Tax Collectors move forward.
PML Daily has also established that Tooro United FC ex-CEO Moses Tusiime is also one of the personnel that were interviewed on Thursday.
