Friday, 01-11-2019
LUZIRA – SC Villa vice captain Ambrose Kirya scored a 92nd minute penalty to ensure the Jogoos draw 1-1 with URA FC on Friday.
Kirya who had played a missing in action role all day, sent Alionzi Nafian the wrong way after the custodian brought down Faizo Muwawu in the area.
Earlier, Brian Majwega had converted from the spot to hand URA FC a deserved lead.
URA started the game strongly and Saidi Kyeyune pulled an effort wide.
Moments later, Kyeyune sent Joachim Ojera on his way but the winger went down in the area under the challenge of Saidi Keni. However, referee William Oloya waved play on and signaled for a goal kick after the ball went out.
Ojera who was a problem for Villa all afternoon would not be denied twice as he fell over from a Yayo Lutimba shove prompting Oloya to award a penalty.
Brian Majwega stepped up and sent Keni the wrong way to put the Tax Collectors 1-0 up inside the first 10 minutes.
URA FC were in close control of proceedings and could have increased their tally only yo be let down by poor finishing.
Kagimu shot straight at Keni after good work down the right by Ojera.
The skippers then miscued a Cromwell Rwothomio low cross while inside the Villa area.
He was then sent through on goal by Kyeyune’s clever free kick but pulled his effort over the bar.
Mikadad Ssenyongo then rattled the post as he pounced onto a Rwothomio poor header.
Rwothomio got a glorious chance to seal the points but after nut-mugging Alishe, his goal bound effort was pushed out for a fruitless corner by Keni.
Villa struggled to create chances throughout the game.
Their first realistic opportunity came 25 minutes from time with Muwawu forcing Nafian into a finger-tip save.
From the resultant corner, the hosts could not force the ball over with Alishe and Kirya all failing to sort their feet in a goal-mouth scramble.
Muwawu then pulled a shot wide after he was played in by Kibumba’s low cross.
With time running out, Villa would steal a point from almost nothing.
Emmanuel Kalyowa played a ball over the top and Muwawu pounced but before attempting a shot, he was brought down by Nafian inside the area. Kirya took responsibility and scored in what proved to be thw last piece of action.
The result means the Villa have now gone 9 games without defeat since losing their opening game away to Kyetume FC.
The win sees SC Villa move onto 17 points for the season but remain 4th on the log.
For URA FC, they remain 10th with 11 points.
