LUZIRA – Steven Mukwala scored a late brace as Maroons FC fought back from a goal down to defeat Police FC 2-1 at the Luzira Prisons Grounds on Saturday.
The Vipers SC loanee struck twice inside the last 5 minutes to ensure Douglas Bamweyana’s side register a 5th victory of the season.
His first came on 86 minutes as he finished off a Ceaser Olega pass.
He then struck the winner two minutes later to sink the Cops who are struggling at the wrong end of the table.
Earlier, Police FC had taken the lead through Ben Ocen who fed off Tony Kiwalaze’s pass in the 53rd minute.
This is Police’s 6th loss of the season after winning just two and drawing as many in their first 10 games.
Abdallah Mubiru’s side remains second from bottom with just five points. They were chopped off three points for failing to honour their match-day one fixture away to Onduparaka FC.
For Maroons, they climb into 6th on the table with 16 points from 10 games.

Maroons’ next fixture will be away to Express FC on Tuesday next week while Police will have a rest after their game at home to URA FC was postponed.
