Mbarara City FC vs Bright Stars FC
Kakyeka Stadium, Mbarara
Wednesday, 06-11-2019 @4:30pm
Mbarara City FC will host Bright Stars at Kakyeka Stadium on Wednesday in one of the two games lined up in the Uganda Premier League.
The hosts are enduring a trying season so far and even the appointment of experienced tactician Paul Nkata seems not to be paying dividends, at least not as yet.
Nkata took over from Brian Ssenyondo five games into the season with the Ankole Lions on five points.
However, five games later, Nkata has managed just four points and the team is closer to the drop zone than before.
Mbarara currently sits 13th on the standings with 9 points. Their tally is equal to that of Bright Stars who occupy the last relegation spot.
The team will be boosted by the fact that they are returning to Kakyeka after the stadium was cleared to host games early last month.
Whether Kakyeka provides the much need inspiration for the Ankole Lions to take all three points on Wednesday, remains to be seen but judging from recent history, Mbarara seems to be stronger playing there than anywhere else.
Nkata’s side comes off a poor run of results that has seen them manage just a point from a last possible 12.
They lost 1-0 away to Tooro United on Sunday and will be desperate for points against Bright Stars.
However, Bright Stars must be coming into the game with some sort of a feel-good feeling.
Muhammad Kiseka’s side registered their first victory of the season this past weekend as they scrapped past Onduparaka FC 1-0.
The team had not won any of their first 10 games but that victory may be the catalyst they require to kick-start a season that has provided more concerns than positives so far.
