
The Uganda U17 Women team have been drawn to face Ethiopia as they bid to reach the World Cup.
The two nations will face off in the Preliminary round of the African qualifiers.
Their match-up was confirmed on Wednesday during the draws held in Cairo, Egypt.
The first leg will happen on January 10th while the two face off in the return (leg) on the 26th of the same month (January).
There will be three rounds of qualification until the three African representative at the finals’ tournament are known.
After the preliminary round, the second round will take place between February and March while the third round is slated for May.
The winner between Uganda and Ethiopia will next take on either Tanzania or Djibouti.
Uganda’s team has been consistently playing tournaments that will shape them ahead of the double header with their neighbours and the rest of the qualifiers.
They won the 2019 COSAFA tournament and are part of the CECAFA Girls Cup that will kick off this weekend in Njeru, Jinja.

The FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup is an international association football tournament for female players under the age of 17.
It is organized by Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
The tournament is held in even-numbered years, starting in 2008.
The current champion is Spain, which won its first title at the 2018 tournament m in Uruguay.
For the 2020 edition, it will be the 7th edition of the FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup, the biennial international women’s youth football championship contested by the under-17 national teams of the member associations of FIFA, since its inception in 2008.
The tournament will be held in India between 2 and 21 November 2020. It will mark the first time that India has hosted a FIFA women’s football tournament.
