COPA Dar es Salaam Beach Soccer 2019
Burundi vs Uganda
Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
Tuesday, 24-12-2019 @4:45pm
The Uganda National Beach Soccer team-Sand Cranes will return to action in the COPA Dar es Salaam Beach Soccer tournament on Tuesday against Burundi.
After their penalty shoot-out victory against Tanzania on opening day, Salim Jamal Muwonge’s side will be looking to add more points on their tally so as to brighten their chances of winning the competition.
With Meddie Kibirge in goal, the Sand Cranes have a very good goalkeeper who is capable of bailing them out of difficult situations.
The Tooro United FC goalkeeper saved two penalties in the win over Tanzania and will once again be the back-born of the team.
Following the win on Sunday, the team conducted a recovery training session on Monday morning at Coco beach and all the 12 players who traveled are ready for the duel.
Head Coach Salim Jamal Muwonge was excited by the players’ response albeit the ‘too much’ energy used in a game against Tanzania on Sunday evening.
“I have been amazed by the players’ response; the boys have been so lively during the recovery session, said Muwonge.
“Our focus is now on the upcoming game against Burundi on Tuesday thus we have tried to rectify the mistakes from the Tanzania game.”
The tournament is played on a round-robin format and the team with the most points amassed emerges, winner.
