PSG are in typically Parisian form with wins in each of their last seven away games. Paris have a very solid record against good and in-form teams with them winning each of their four matches against teams in the top six at time of playing this season, scoring eleven and conceding none. Lille are a quality side though with goals in eleven of their last twelve matches and face a PSG side with just one clean sheet in their last five league games.
PSG kept up their tremendous form in midweek as they stormed to a 3-0 win over Reims, booking their place in the Coupe de la Ligue final where they’ll face Lyon. It was a dominating performance from the Parisians, made all the more special considering that Reims have conceded the least goals in Ligue 1 this season. Even against the best teams in the league Paris have been consistently putting in fantastic performances and that’s what they’ll be looking to show in Lille.
In Ligue 1 they have played four matches against teams in the top six of the league at the time of playing. In these four matches against some of the best and in-form teams in Ligue 1 they have won all four, scoring eleven and conceding none. This shows how well PSG have done even when facing brilliant opponents.
Whereas many teams in Ligue 1 this season have really struggled on the road, PSG have excelled when playing away from home with 24 points of a possible 30 picked up so far. PSG have won each of their last seven games away from home with a whopping 25 goals scored and just three conceded in this time.
Lille will be in with quite the challenge here as they host PSG. Christophe Galter’s men have been a little bit inconsistent in recent weeks with five wins and four defeats in their last nine matches seeing them finish bottom of their Champions League group and sit 5th in Ligue 1.
They also dropped out of the Coupe de la Ligue on Tuesday as they lost their semi-final against Lyon on penalties. This result followed their rather soggy 2-0 win over fifth-tier Gonfreville where they didn’t score until the 69th minute despite fielding a pretty strong eleven. And before that they lost 1-0 to 16th place Dijon so it hasn’t been the nicest of starts to 2020 for les Dogues.
However, they will be bolstered by their return to the Stade Pierre-Mauroy. Six of Lille’s last seven matches in all competitions have been away from home but in front of their own fans they are on a run of four consecutive wins with three clean sheets. They have actually only lost one home game since the start of October and have the best home record in Ligue 1.
