Bright Stars FC 2-1 Maroons FC
Kavumba Recreation Grounds, Wakiso
Wednesday, 29-01-2020
Sula Sebunza held his nerve to dispatch a late penalty as Bright Stars FC defeated Maroons 2-1 at Kavumba Recreation Grounds on Wednesday.
The Bright Stars captain took responsibility from the spot after Abraham Tusubira had brought down Methodius Junju in the area, prompting referee Robert Doney to point to the spot.
Earlier, Tusubira looked to have turned into a hero for the home side when he equalized for them two minutes to the break off Pius Obuya’s cross.
He was canceling out Ronald Nkonge’s opener inside two minutes which was assisted by Joseph Janjali.
It was a contest played in good faith seeing only Maroons’ pair of coach Douglas Bamweyana and forward Bronson Nsubuga booked in the entire 90 minutes.
As either side did seek for points, they made changes with Maroons turning to Fred Amaku to replace Solomon Walusimbi.
For the hosts, they played all their cards in terms of changes. James Angau, Jungu and Aggrey Kirya came on for Jamir Kalisa, Nkonge and Janjali respectively.
For his efforts in the game, Sebunza was named man of the match.
The win sees Bright Stars FC climb into 13th with 19 points from as many games.
Maroons on the other hand stay 10th with 23 points.
In their next fixtures, Maroons host Tooro United FC on Friday while Bright Stars FC are away to Wakiso Giants on Sunday.
