Uganda Cup 2020-Round of 64
CATDA vs KCCA FC
StarTimes Stadium Lugogo
Friday, 24-01-2020 @4pm
KCCA FC will be hoping to reach the Uganda Cup round of 64 on Friday when they take on CATDA at the StarTimes Stadium in Lugogo.
The Kasasiros who have won the competition a record 10 times are favourites to win this year’s title following the elimination of Vipers SC on Wednesday.
However, with the unpredictability of cup ties, they will have to avoid complacency so as to ensure safe progression.
Despite being the visitors, the game will be played in Lugogo, KCCA FC’s home ground so the Kasasiros will feel they are at home in all ways.
“We are ready for CATDA FC, said KCCA FC head coach ahead of the game.
“Most of the players are available and we shall select the best team for the task at hand.
“We want to win the Uganda Cup and that means we have to show intent from word go.
“We will give it our best and we hope we can overcome the opponents and progress.
“No team in this competition is a pushover and we expect our opponents to come and give us a hard time but we shall do everything possible to win the tie and progress to the next round.”
KCCA FC will be starting life without teenage sensation Allan Okello who earlier in the week completed a move to Algerian side Paradou AC. However, they will be hoping new teenage signing Moses Aliro is cleared to make his debut for the club. Skipper Charles Lukwago has recovered from illness and is likely to be part of the matchday squad. Julius Poloto, Sadat Anaku, Ali Mwirusi, and Kizza Mustafa have their licensing issues sorted and are part of the matchday squad. Muzamiru Mutyaba (shoulder) and Jurua Hassan (knee) are ruled out due to injury together with Sadam Juma and Jackson Nunda. Keziron Kizito, Eric Ssenjobe, and Simon Serunkuma are other players ruled out.
With KCC FC four points off the pace in the League, they view the Cup as their most realistic chance to winning something this season.
In the other games involving Uganda Premier League teams to be played on Friday, Mvara Boys will host BUL FC at the Arua PTC Ground while URA FC will be away to Lugazi Municipal at the Mehta Stadium.
The other fixtures will see Soroti at home to Kansai Plascon, Chimpanzee entertain Nyamityobora, Light SSS will be away to Fire Fire, Ndejje University faces FHL while Free Stars and Saviours do battle in Mukono.
Proline defeated Bright Stars on penalties to win last year’s title.
