The Stanbic Uganda Cup will return on Saturday with four fixtures to be played at different stadiums across the country.
Three Uganda Premier League teams will be in action on the day, hoping o avoid shock exits.
In Buliisa, Livingstone Mbabazi’s Wakiso Giants will be away to Bugoigo as they attempt to win their maiden silverware since inception last year.
The Purple Sharks have been the envy of all Ugandan football as they find themselves in the top tier of the game just over a year old.
However, things have not been rosy for them as they have performed averagely so far.
After losing both of their opening second-round fixtures, they beat Onduparaka FC 1-0 and will be hoping to take the momentum into Saturday’s game.
However, with the likes of Vipers SC, BUL FC and Onduparaka already eliminated by lower-tier sides, they need to be cautious.
“We want to go as far as possible in the cup, noted Wakiso winger Yasin Mugume.
“It will be a tough game and we can’t underestimate the opponents but we shall do all it takes to go through.”
Wakiso will have a near to full strength squad as injuries have eased up in camp.
In Tooro, Police FC will take on Admin FC at the Paya Primary School playground.
Police are the most inform side in the top flight after winning all their three second-round games.
They are playing the beautiful brand of football that has made them the darling of football in the recent past.
However, they scrapped to a 1-0 victory at home to Kyetume in their last game, requiring a Herman Wasswa injury-time penalty to take care of the slaughters.
Away to Admin, they will be favourites but will know that anything can happen and will need to be careful.
The other UPL team in action will be Kyetume who travel to Kumi to take on Sansiro.
Jackson Mayanja’s side are yet to win a game this year and will be desperate for victory on Saturday.
In the other day’s game, Mbale Garage will take on UPDF FC at the Mbale SSS grounds.
Proline are the defending champions of the competition as they defeated Bright Stars on penalties to win last year’s title.
