LUGOGO – KCCA FC will be without Allan Okello as they host Mbarara City FC in the Uganda Premier League on Tuesday afternoon. The want away forward has not been training in the last couple of days as he tries to force a move away from the Kasasiros.
However, Mustafa Kizza has been named in the match-day squad despite also wanting to leave. Kizza has been training alone for several session but is understood to be in a better frame of mind to play.
While speaking about the Okello-Kizza situation, KCCA FC head coach Mike Mutebi noted that the two players will be offered better contracts but if they fail to sign them, they will be let go of.
“We gave them a platform to showcase their talent and no player will not hold us at ransom when I am still the KCCA FC manager because it’s me and my colleagues who have nurtured these players, said Mutebi.
”We are ready to improve their contracts with better deals because they deserve them and if we fail to agree we will let them go.”
KCCA FC will also be without Erisa Ssekisambu and Simon Sserunkuma who have been suspended for two months. The duo are believed to have absconded from training prompting the Kasasiros to suspend them.
Jurua Hassan (knee) is also ruled out due to injury while Sadam Juma and Jackson Nunda remain sidelined.
The only good news for KCCA is that Sadat Anaku and Sam Ssenyonjo are both available after shaking off respective injuries.
KCCA will be concerned by the number of absentees as they try to put leaders Vipers SC under steady pressure.
Currently, they sit four points behind the Venoms and a win on Tuesday will see them move to with a point of their rivals who take on Kyetume FC on Friday.
However, to do that, they will need to overcome a Mbarara City FC side that they have not defeated since their (Mbarara) latest return to the top flight in 2017.
Mbarara have not had the best of preparation for the second round as star-player Paul Mucureezi departed and signed for Vipers, leaving a huge gap to fill in the side.
They were also forced to vacate the Kakyeka stadium and will be hosting their games at Bombo.
Sitting 8th with 19 points, the Ankole Lions will be out for a positive result on Tuesday.
Match Facts
This will be the 6th meeting between the two sides since 2017.
In the previous 5, 4 have ended in draws with Mbarara winning the other.
When the two sides met earlier in the season, Mbarara came from a goal down to beat KCCA 2-1 at Kakyeka.
The reverse fixture last season ended in a 0-0 draw.
KCCA heads into the game having lost just one game in their last 8 (W6 D1).
At home, they are currently on a 12 game unbeaten run in the League (W9 D3).
For Mbarara, they ended the first round in good form, winning all their last three games.
