PSG have won twelve of their last 14 home matches with 42 goals scored in the process. However, the hosts have conceded five goals in their last three matches in the capital. Montpellier have scored 14 goals in their last six games but have won just two games on the road this season. Both teams have scored in the last three clashes between these sides.
In the last five clashes between these sides Montpellier have come away with a win and a draw which is a lot more than most teams can boast so there will be a quiet sense of hope here as Michel Der Zakarian’s men travel to the capital. They go into it in almost the best form possible with five wins in their last six matches. In this time they have netted a whopping 14 goals and conceded just twice.
However, la Paillade did lose their most recent game on Tuesday away to fourth-tier ASM Belfort. It ended 0-0 with Montpellier losing on penalties but they really should have done better given the opponents and the strong eleven they put out. However, this wasn’t just a giant-killing blip but rather an example of something that has been plaguing Montpellier all season: their away form.
Despite sitting 4th in Ligue 1, la Paillade are 13th for away results and have won just twice on the road since the start of the campaign. These victories came against 18th place Amiens and amateur side Reims Sainte-Anne in the cup so they have barely proved themselves away from home which may go against them here.
While PSG have had some problems facing Montpellier in the past, they will be pleased upon hearing of la Paillade’s away form. At the Parc des Princes Paris have been unsurprisingly incredible. Well, it’s hard to find a stadium where they haven’t been stellar but at home they have underlined their quality with twelve wins in their last 14 games in the capital. The champions have netted a whopping 42 goals in this time with just seven conceded, although five of these have come in their last three home matches.
