The Uganda U17 Girls national team head coach Ayub Khalifa is optimistic about his side’s chances ahead of their clash away to Tanzania.
The Girls are slated to face their Tanzanian counterparts in the first leg of the second round of the 2020 World Cup Qualifiers on Sunday in Dar es Salaam.
They departed the country for Dar es Salaam on Friday afternoon and are understood to have arrived safely.
Speaking before departure, Khalifa assured that the Girls are healthy and will win Sunday’s game.
“We have gone with 18 girls and i am optimistic they will get the job done as we bid to reach the World Cup finals, noted Khalifa.
“All the girls are in good spirits and health and i pray to God that we reach safe and i am hopeful we will win the game.”
The team have been undergoing intense training in the last couple of weeks at FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.
The final squad of 18 players was announced on Friday by Khalifa and his technical team.
To reach the second round, Uganda overcame Ethiopia in the first round.
Tanzania will host the first leg on Sunday, 1st March in Dar es Salaam before a return leg in Kampala in two weeks’ time.
