Bright Stars FC continued their resurgence with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Busoga United on Wednesday.
Ronald Sempala, Jamil Karisa and Joseph Janjali were all on target for Paul Kiwanuka’s side who have started the second round in brilliant form.
After a dominant start to the game, Bright Stars took the lead on 24 minutes through Sempala who was teed up by eventual man of the match-Muwadda Mawejje.
The home side thought they had scored a second on 36 minutes but Mawejje’s strike was cancelled out for offside.
They however continued their dominance and moments later, Sam Ssekitto forced a save from Busoga Rogers Omedwa off a venomous strike.
Sempala then shoot over off after Omedwa has spilled James Angu’s initial effort.
Busoga’s first decent opportunity fell to the in-form Lawrence Tezikya who shot tamely at Kiwanuka after leaving Ssekitto for dead.
Early in the second half, Isma Kawawulo hit the side netting from a free kick as Busoga started to grow in the gamw.
However, it was the home side who would score again as Kalisa netted off a Mawejje cross on 66 minutes.
Two would soon become three with Janjali’s shot from distance on 72 minutes somehow found its way into the net, leaving Kiwanuka in sixes and sevens.
Kalisa could have added a fourth but missed a sitter from close range.
In the end, Bright Stars smiled to a fourth victory in six second round games while Busoga lost for the second time since thw turn of the year.
The win sees Bright Stars FC climb into 11th with 23 points from 21 games.
For Busoga, they remain in 7th with 20 points.
The other game played on Wednesday saw Tooro United FC defeat Wakiso Giants 2-0.
