Yafesi Mubiru netted a brace to ensure Tooro United FC defeats Wakiso Giants 2-1 at the St. Paul National Seminary Grounds in Fortportal on Wednesday.
The former Onduparaka and Express FC striker scored both goals in the second half before Amosi Muwonge got Wakiso’s consolation towards the end.
After a goalless first half, Mubiru put Tooro ahead on 56 minutes off a Davis Ssali assist.
Wakiso started to dominate proceedings and went in search of an equalizer but would pay dearly for leaving spaces at the back.
With 11 minutes to play, substitute John Byamukama set up Mubiru for his and his side’s second of the day to put Tooro 2-0 up.
Inside the five added minutes, Wakiso pulled one back through Muwonge but it was too late as the succumbed to yet another defeat.
The victory sees Tooro move to 19 points for the season.
This is their first league victory in 9 games and also the maiden under Mohammad Kiseka.
However, they remain second from bottom but are now just two points adrift of safety.
For Wakiso, this is their 10th loss of the season and they stay in 9th spot with 25 points from 21 games.
The other game played on Wednesday saw Bright Stars beat Busoga United 3-0.
