
Charles Ayieko will replace Douglas Bamweyana as head coach of Maroons FC.
The Prisons’ side parted ways with Bamweyana this past Saturday following a string of bad results that left them in the relegation zone.
According to Kawowo Sports, MUBS University tactician Ayieko has been confirmed as the man to take over from where Bamweyana left off.
Ayieko has been away from coaching in Uganda Premier League for a while now with his last role coming at Busoga United FC in the 2018/19 season.
Of late, he has been doing punditry on Sanyuka TV during UPL match-days, offering his professional assessment of the games.
Ayieko has previous coached several UPL sides including Vipers SC, Tooro United, Police FC and Busoga United FC. He has also coached Nyamityobora FC, Busoga Province (FUFA Drum) and was assistant to Wasswa Bbosa at the Uganda U23 a couple of years ago.
It is understood the Ayieko will be unveiled at Maroons FC on Tuesday 10.
He takes over with Maroons third from bottom having gathered 24 points from their opening 25 UPL games.
His first task will be ensuring that thw Prisons’ side takes care of Kyetume FC on Friday 13 in the Uganda Cup round of 16.
In the League, Maroons will not be in action until May 6 when they travel away to 13th placed Police FC.
