KCCA FC forward Mike Mutyaba is set to miss out on the upcoming CHAN tournament.
This was confirmed by Uganda Cranes head coach Johnathan McKinstry after Monday’s training at the GEMS Cambridge facility in Luzira.
McKinstry confirmed that Mutyaba complained about not feeling well and test were conducted on him.
“He (Mutyaba) reported to us on Saturday that he was not feeling well, said McKinstry.
“The doctor in camp did some tests on him and it was decided that further tests should be done in the hospital.
“At the moment, we have to rule him out of the CHAN tournament.
“We will do further tests but at the moment, it is unfortunate for both the team and player that we have to say he will not be able to feature.
“We are going to ensure Mike (Mutyaba) gets enough time to recover and all I can say is that he is out of the tournament.
Mutyaba was over the moon about his summon to the team, terming it as a ‘miracle’ last week.
The former Express FC and Vipers SC forward had previously retired from football due to injury but returned a couple of years ago following advice from KCCA FC head coach Mike Mutebi.
His performances for the Kasasiros have seen him get the call up but as things stand at the moment, he will not be part of the team that will head to Cameroon next month.
Monday was the 8th day of training for the Cranes.
Mustafa Kizza who had earlier travelled to Switzerland for trails joined up with the team alongside his KCCA FC teammate Charles Lukwago who has been injured in the last few weeks.
Lukwago was earlier projected to miss out of the tournament due to a nasty injury he suffered against Express FC but made a miraculous recovery to join up with the team.
Uganda will be taking part in their 5th CHAN tournament.
They have never progressed past the group stages of the competition.
At this year’s finals, they are in group B alongside Morocco, Togo and Rwanda.
