Uganda Premier League
URA FC vs Police FC
Arena of Visions, Bombo
Friday, 06-03-2020 @4:30pm
Police FC are the darling of Uganda football with their expansive attacking brand of football.
They are the side that everyone loves to watch and with Abdallah Mubiru at the helm, that will not be changing anytime soon as the tactician is hell-bent of continuing with the beautiful brand of football.
However, things are not looking great for them currently and they may end up in the Big League next season.
The Cops who have always been in the top flight are currently in the bottom three with just six games to play.
On 22 points, they sit two (points) away from safety as Maroons who sit in 13th have 24 (points).
After the prisons’ side lost 1-0 at home to Express FC on Thursday, Police have a glorious chance to climb out of the drop zone with victory on Friday.
However, they will have to get past the most in-form side in Ugandan football currently.
After a troubled start to the campaign, the Tax Collectors have completely turned the tables.
A run of just a single defeat in 15 game has elevated URA FC to 5th on the Uganda Premier League and into the last 16 of the Uganda Cup.
The only loss in this period came away to Busoga United on February 18, in a game that URA looked a shadow of themselves.
Victory for URA FC will see them return to 3rd spot, leapfrogging Busoga who are currently two points ahead having played a game more.
Friday’s game also has another aspect to it as it pits two of the best coaches in Uganda football at the moment.
URA FC’s Sam Simbwa is a serial winners who has continued to stamp his status as a legend in terms of coaching in the country.
In the opposite dug-out will be Mubiru, a soft spoken tactical genius who is known for his tactical masterclass.
Who walks away with the points on Friday remains to be know but it will indeed be a game worthy of the time as Simbwa faces Mubiru.
