Wakiso Giants FC vs Vipers SC
Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium, Wakissha
Friday, 06-03-2020 @4pm
Vipers SC captain Halid Lwaliwa remains a major doubt as he is still injured following a knock he endured during the barren stalemate with KCCA last month.
Farouk Musisi resumed full training with the team on Monday but will have to wait for clearance to feature.
Wakiso Giants continue to be without Lawrence Bukenya through injury and he has been joined by Yasin Mugume in the sickbay.
Defender Hassan Wasswa Dazo has also been ruled out of the game due to domestic issues.
Utility player Ayub Kisaliita is back from injury and will definitely feature.
Tom Masiko, Ibrahim Kiyemba and Duncan Sseninde are ineligible to face their parent side as they are on loan from Vipers.
Vipers will be hoping to move six points clear at the top of the standings when they take on Wakiso Giants FC on Friday afternon.
After KCCA FC were held to a 0-0 draw at home to Proline FC, it left the Kasasiros three points adrift of Vipers and victory will ensure Fred Kajoba’s side move to with in touching distance of the title with just five games to play.
However, Kajoba will have to caution his players not to get complacent in anyway come game time.
Off a 5-0 thrashing of Maroons, the Venoms will most definitely be full of confidence.
For Wakiso, they have at a certain degree, struggled in their debut top flight season.
The Purple Sharks made all sorts of noise as they ensured promotion from the Big League but 24 games and three head coaches down the road, are yet to secure their status for next season.
The 1-0 loss away to Busoga United highlighted what has been a wobbly season for the Wakissha based side.
It came after a run of two victories and a draw in all competitions and they will be hoping for a victory against the leaders so as to pull further away from the drop zone.
Currently, Wakiso sits just 7 points off the drop zone and they will know that a run of poor results may see them dragged into the dog-fight.
“We are facing a side with quality players.” – What they are saying
Deo Sserwadda, Wakiso Giants FC head coach
“It’s unfortunate that we shall miss a couple of key players for the game but the available lads are ready for the game.
“We are facing a side with quality players and aiming at winning the title but we also have ambitions to save our season and the boys are aware of the importance of this game.”
Fred Kajoba, Vipers SC head coach
“We have an obligation to win and move closer to our goal of winning the league.
“Our job is to try and win every game so as to try and put enough distance between us and the ones in second.
“It is not going into to be an easy game because Wakiso is a good side but we have enough quality to get the job done.
