Spanish top tier side Levante UD are keen to seal a move for former Mbale Heroes FC striker Meddie Kagere.
Levante UD have openly stated they are keen to sign Kagere but are still hesitant about offering him a two year deal.
According to sources, Levante are offering Kagere six-months which the players’ representatives are not falling for.
“Levante have told me they want to sign him [Kagere] for only six months so that they can check him and I have also told them it will not be possible to sign him for a short period.” Noted Kagere’s agent Patrick Gakumba as quoted by Goal.com.
“They told me they have been following Meddie Kagere since they watched him play against Sevilla when they visited Tanzania to play against Simba SC in a friendly.
“They have also followed his records while playing in Rwanda and for Gor Mahia in Kenya and are impressed with his scoring record and are happy he is a good player.”
The Rwandan hitman, who joined Simba from Gor Mahia of Kenya, is currently the top scorer in the Mainland Premier League with 19 goals.
He caught the eye of the Spanish club while playing against Sevilla in a friendly played in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania before the season kicked-off.
In the friendly, Simba lost to the Spanish side 4-5 with Kagere setting up one goal and scoring another.
It is believed the Valencia based side initially wanted to take Kagera on trail, something Gakumba turned down claiming the 33-year old is not a ‘trail material).
Gakumba wants Levante to sign Kagere, who scored 23 goals in his first season with Simba, on a two-year contract.
Levante is currently 13th on the Spanish La Liga table with 33 points, 8 away from the relegation zone.
