KAMPALA – Express FC are in advanced to re-sign Steven Luswata.
Luswata is currently a free agent after his contract at Tooro United FC expired.
He was at the Car Dealers for two season although his spell did not end well.
Along with several other players, Luswata was forced to opt-out of his deal due to financial constraints that had seen the club fail to meet It’s salary obligations among others.
Initially, the midfielder left Express after three seasons, one of which saw him captain the them.
He has previously featured for Vipers SC with whom he won his only Uganda Premier League crown back in 2015.
If the deal indeed materializes, Luswata will be re-uniting with former coach Wasswa Bbosa.
This would be the third time the two would be working together having been at Express FC and Tooro United FC in the past.
Bbosa too has just rejoined the Red Eagles early this year and has recently signed a contract extension after his initially short-term deal expired at the end of last season.
Having inherited a ‘weakened’ squad, the former U23 National team head coach is on a recruitment spree in an attempt to stabilize the team.
Several new players are expected to join the side as others will be leaving before the 2020/21 season starts.
Last season, the Wankulukuku based side finished 9th with 31 points from 25 games.
