Juventus suddenly find themselves with a four-point lead at the top and can extend it even further, but have to improvise at left-back against relegation battlers Lecce.
The Bianconeri put Coppa Italia Final disappointment behind them with a 2-0 win away to Bologna, which coupled with Lazio’s defeat to Atalanta and Inter stalling 3-3 with Sassuolo, opened up a comfortable lead.
It’s not all rosy for Maurizio Sarri, as Mattia De Sciglio joined Alex Sandro, Giorgio Chiellini, Sami Khedira and Merih Demiral on the treatment table, with Danilo suspended after his red card.
It means there are no left-backs available, so Blaise Matuidi is expected to step in, with ex-Lecce man Juan Cuadrado on the right.
Despite being on the verge of a move to Barcelona, Miralem Pjanic should still take the midfield role, with Federico Bernardeschi preferred to Douglas Costa.
Lecce were hammered 4-1 by Milan on their first game back, prompting a furious response from coach Fabio Liverani.
Giulio Donati returns from suspension, with a more defensive approach expected.
Gianluca Lapadula, Diego Farias, Zan Majer, Alessandro Deiola and Cristiano Dell’Orco are injured, but Antonin Barak will try everything to be ready in time to start.
Lecce could go three Serie A games unbeaten against Juventus for the first time in their history, after two 1-1 draws.
