Vipers SC striker Fahad Bayo has completed a move to Israel side FC Ashdod.
The move was confirmed by the two clubs on Monday, July 27.
“We are delighted to announce two impressive acquisitions of two foreign players, who have signed long-term contracts for years, in the long term vision and building a quality staff that will lead the team to fight for goals at the top of the table,” read part of a long statement by FC Ashdod.
“Aziz Bayou(Bayo) and Svetkovich will soon arrive in Israel and join their new friends immediately after completing their isolation duty upon entering the country.”
For Vipers, they tweeted a statement thanking the Uganda Cranes international for his services and also wished him good luck.
“Good luck and thanks for all the memories.” Read Vipers’ statement.
Bayo becomes the second Ugandan to sign for Ashdod in 12 months after former KCCA FC captain Timothy Awany did likewise last year.
Bayo completes the move after an impressive first season at Vipers SC.
The striker was at the heart of things as the Venoms secured the 2019/20 Uganda Premier League title, scoring 12 goals.
This will be Bayo’s fourth senior club having also featured for Proline FC and Zambia’s Buildcon FC in the past.
Bayo is a produced of both Lugazi Youth Academy and Friends kd Soccer Academy. He was also at Kibuli Senior Secondary School, for who he top scored at the 2014 Copa Coca Cola Schools’ championship.
With Kizito Luwaga (Hapoel Kfar Saba) also currently in the European country, this takes the tally of Ugandans currently plying their trade in Israel to three.
