KAMPALA – The Futsal Association of Uganda (FAU) held their maiden General Assembly on Saturday, September 12 at Kenedia Hotel in Katwe-Kampala.
Saturday’s event was presided over by FAU Chairperson Hamzah Jjunju and was also attended by FUFA CEO in charge of Football, Decolas Kiiza.
The Assembly comes just a year after FAU was admitted as the 34th member, under the Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) at the football governing body’s 95th General Assembly.
During the meeting, several issues were highlighted at the assembly, including a budget and financial statements.
Speaking at the assembly, Jjunju noted that these are exciting times for FUTSAL despite the ongoing Coronavirus.
“The COVID-19 times call for improvisation and innovativeness. These are exciting times for the Futsal game in Uganda as now we start to envision what started as a dream way back on 18th March 2015 at the MTN Arena, Lugogo in Kampala.”

FUTSAL is one of the fastest growing sports in Uganda and has so far successfully completed three League seasons.
It is understood that FUFA is happy with how the sport is shaping up in the country, something that Kiiza hinted on and also promised that FUFA will avail prize money for the FUTSAL league.
“We at FUFA are very happy with the proceedings at FAU. Said Kizza.
“I want to commend Mr. Jjunju for leading this institution from inception.
“We are ready to give all the necessary support and i can assure you of prize money for the Futsal league come next season.”
