LUGOGO – Having missed out on the 2019/20 Uganda Premier League title, KCCA FC look intent on winning it once again.
A squad overhaul of sorts is currently taking place at Lugogo as the Kasasiros keep on signing new players.
On Sunday, August 13, Mike Mutebi’s side signed two more players to take their tally of new signings to 10.
Moses Kalanzi and Andrew Kawooya are the two players who were unveiled during the club’s TV show that airs on Sanyuka TV.
Kalanzi makes a return to the country after a spell in Denmark where he featured for three different clubs including Jammerbugt, Aalborg and Hjorring.
He comes in as a direct replacement for left-back Mustapha Kizza who was sold to US Major League Soccer (MLS) side Montreal Impact.
Kalanzi is not new to Ugandan football as he featured in several academy sides before moving abroad. He is a product of Bulenga Academy, Young Eagles Academy, Wembley, Super Cubs, Kampala Kids League (KKL) and Uganda Youth Soccer Academy.
For Kawooya, he is currently a student at St. Mary’s Kitende where he is in his senior five.
The midfielder has been featuring prominently in the FUFA Juniors League with Vipers Junior Team.
Kawooya also represented Uganda in the 2018 CECAFA U17 championships and was part of the team that took part in the Junior AFCON tournament in Tanzania, last year.
Despite both players being relatively young, they are expected to make a telling contribution to the KCCA FC side that will be out to win a 14th league title next season.
They join the likes of Juma Balinya, Samson Kigozi, Brian Aheebwa, Bright Anukani, Denis Iguma, Stefano Mazengo Loro, Charles Lwanga and Ashraf Mugume as the new recruits at Lugogo. Dominic Ayela is the other new face in the side having been promoted from the KCCA Junior Team.
KCCA FC will be representing Uganda in the CAF Confederations Cup next season after finishing second in the league behind eventual winners Vipers SC.
