Real Madrid vs Huesca
Estadio Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid
Saturday, 31-10-2020 @4pm
Real Madrid’s struggles in the Champions League continued with a draw at Borussia Monchengladbach in midweek, but they do come into this clash in high spirits following their 3-1 win over Barcelona in La Liga last week.
The hosts have now won four of their last five games in La Liga and sit just a point behind top-spot holders Real Sociedad with a game in hand.
With Barcelona dropping points in three of their five matches so far, taking an early lead in the table could prove crucial to this season’s title race.
Opponents Huesca are yet to win in La Liga this season, but they have proved difficult to break down at times.
That can’t be said of their thrashing at Real Sociedad last time out, but the visitors have only lost two of their seven matches and that trip to Sociedad was the first time they conceded more than twice this season.
The problems are clear at the other end of the pitch, though. Huesca have scored just five goals in their seven games so far, and with Real Madrid only conceding four in six they will find it difficult to break Los Blancos down.
Athletic Bilbao vs Sevilla
Estadio San Mames Barria, Bilbao
Saturday, 31-10-2020 @6:15pm
Athletic Bilbao fell to their fourth defeat of the La Liga season last time out at Osasuna, and it was a story that’s starting to become somewhat familiar.
The Basque club struggled going forward before being undone by a late winner, resulting in a third 1-0 loss from their last four league matches and leaving them 16th in the standings.
Sevilla will be hoping to take advantage of this poor form after suffering a downtrodden start to their own domestic campaign.
However, a 1-0 win over Rennes in midweek ended their four game winless streak and the Europa League champions will be confident in their chances on Saturday.
Like Bilbao, Sevilla have struggled for goals so far this season but come into this having only conceded three in their last six in all competitions.
They have only lost two of their eight competitive games within the 90 minutes and their midweek triumph will surely have boosted confidence.
Athletic Bilbao have lost four of their six La Liga matches so far. Sevilla have only lost two of their eight competitive matches inside 90 minutes. Three of Athletic Bilbao’s last four La Liga games have ended in a 1-0 defeat.
Osasuna vs Atletico Madrid
Estadio El Sadar, Pamplona
Saturday, 31-10-2020 @8:30pm
Atletico Madrid are unbeaten in their last 21 La Liga matches. Atletico Madrid have kept clean sheets in six of their last eight league games.
La Liga may seem unpredictable this season but some things never change and Atletico Madrid have still been one of the tightest defensive units in the division.
Diego Simeone’s men have won three and drawn two of their opening five La Liga encounters, beating Granada, Celta Vigo and Real Betis and they have been breached only once in Spain’s top flight in 2020-21.
They should be fancied to get the better of Osasuna, who themselves have been defensively solid.
Deportivo Alaves vs Barcelona
Estadio de Mendizzoroza, Vitoria-Gastiez
Saturday, 31-10-2020 @11pm
Barcelona have lost only two of their last seven matches in all competitions. Alaves have won only two of their last eight La Liga games.
Barcelona responded to their El Clasico defeat with a 2-0 victory over Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday and that result should help them stabilise their league form.
Ronald Koeman’s men stopped Juve from having a single shot on target in Turin and have looked sharper defensively in recent weeks.
The defeat to Real Madrid aside, Barcelona conceded only two goals in their four La Liga matches beforehand against Villarreal, Celta Vigo, Sevilla and Getafe and it could be worth backing an away win in a low-scoring contest.
Alaves have drawn blanks against Getafe, Osasuna and Elche already this season, losing four of their opening seven matches.
