Uganda Cranes captain Denis Onyango has been nominated in the 2019/20 Premier Soccer League (PSL) awards.
The Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper is one of three custodians from whom the best of the 2019/20 season will be named.
Onyango will compete with SuperSport United’s Ronwen Williams and Daniel Akpeyi of Keizer Chiefs for the goalkeeper of the season award.
The Ugandan shot stopper played a pivot role for Sundowns as they secured unprecedented treble last season.
As the shot-stopper, he registered eight clean sheets in 21 league games.
Onyango’s teammates Themba Zwane and Gaston Sirino will tussle it out with Peter Shalulile (Highlands Park) and Samir Nurkovic of Kaizer Cheifs for the Footballer of the season award.
New Al Ahly coach Pitso Mosimane ( formerly at Sundowns), former Kaizer Chiefs’ Ernst Middendorp and Maritzburg’s Eric Tinkler have been nominated for the coach of the season gong.
The winners will be awarded before the kick off the the new PSL season on October 24, 2020.
