KAMPALA – Uganda Cranes head coach Johnathan McKinstry and his technical team have named the local-based players that will make the final squad ahead of the upcoming AFCON qualifiers.
Uganda will take on South Sudan in a double header this month as they continue their bid to reach the 2021 AFCON finals’ tournament.
The seven players have been selected from the 22 UPL who have been undertaking training at Lugogo since Monday.
Vipers SC trio of Halid Lwaliwa, Disan Galiwango and Karim Watambala are three of the four players that have been selected. The others are KCCA FC duo of Charles Lukwago and Brian Aheebwa plus Patrick Mbowa and Shafic Kagimu who both play for URA.
The list does not include the trio of Denis Iguma, Tonny Mawejje and Murushid Juuku.
The three players have in the past, featured prominently in the Uganda Cranes set up, making appearances at both the 2017 and 2019 AFCON finals.

The seven players will team-up with the foreign based contingent as they prepare for South Sudan.
