
The five major European Leagues continued this past weekend with action in Spain, Italy, Germany, France and England.
In Spain, defending champions Real Madrid were subjected to their second defeat of the season. Zinedin Zidane’s side relinquished the lead to lose 4-1 away to Valencia on Sunday.
Karim Benzema put Real ahead on 23 minutes but Carlos Solar scored three penalties while Raphael Verane netted an own-goal to ensure Valencia win the game.
The result leaves Real 4th with 16 points from their opening 8 games.
For Barcelona, Lionel Messi came off the bench to ensure they cruise pasg Real Betis 5-2 at the camp nou. Antoine Griezmann, Osusmane Dembele and Pedri scored the other goals while Loren Morino and Sanabria were on target for Betis who also had Asir Mandi sent off at the hour-mark.
Elsewhere, Huesca drew 1-1 with Eibar while on Saturday, Joao Felix (×2), Marcus Llorente and Luis Suarez were all on target as Atletico Madrid powered past Cadiz 4-0 and a Lucas Ocampos penalty on 50 minutes was enough to ensure Sevilla beat Osasuna 1-0 at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
On Sunday, Villarreal were 3-1 winners at Getafe, Real Sociedad maintained top spot following a 2-0 win at home to Granada, Levante drew 1-1 with Deportivo Alaves while Real Valladolid beat Athletic Bilbao 2-1.
In Italy, Juventus conceded a 95th Felipe Caicedo equalizer to draw 1-1 away to Lazio. Juve who are now 5th had taken a 15th minute lead through Cristiano Ronaldo.

Atalanta drew 1-1 with Inter Milan after Aleksey Miranchuk levelled matters for the hosts following Lautaro Martinez’s opener.
Elsewhere, Sassuolo drew 0-0 at home to Udinese, Cagliari beat Sampdoria 2-0, Spezia were 3-0 winners away to Benevento while Parma and Fiorentina shared spoils in a 0-0 contest.
On Sunday, Genoa loat 3-1 at home to Roma, Torino drew 0-0 with Crotone, Viktor Osimhen scored the only goal in Napoli’s 1-0 win at Bologna while Zlatan Ibrahimovic netted late to ensure AC Milan salvaged a 2-2 draw at home to Hellas Verona.
In Germany, Bayern Munich moved two-points clear at the top of the Bundesliga following a 3-2 victory away to rivals Borussia Dortmund.
Marco Reus pot the hosts ahead before David Alaba, Robert Lewandowski and Leroy Sane responded to hand Bayern a 3-1 lead. Braut Erling Haaland netted with seven minutes to play so as the game ended 3-2.
Bayern nove move to 18 points, two ahead of second-placed RB Leipzig who thrushed Freiburg 3-0 on the same day.

Still on Saturday, Union Berlin humiliated Arminia Bielefeld 5-0, Hertha Berlin were 3-0 winners at Augsburg, Mainz drew 2-2 with Schalke, the same result as in the game between Stuttgart and Eintracht Frankfurt.
Earlier, Werder Bremen had drawn 1-1 with Koln-on Friday. On Sunday, Wolfsburg beat Hoffenheim 2-1 while Bayer Leverkusen twice came from behind to beat Borussia Monchengladbach 4-3.
In France, PSG move five points clear at the top of the standings thanks to a 3-0 win at home to Rennes on Saturday. In the absence of Neymar Jr, Kylian Mbappe and Mauro Icardi, Angel Di Maria scored a brace after Moise Kean had opening the scoring on 11 minutes.

PSG now have 24 points, five ahead of second-placed Lille who lost 2-3 away to Brest.
The other game on Saturday saw Montpellier overcome Bordeaux 2-0 away from home.
On Friday, Morgan Sanson scored the only goal as Olympique Marseille defeated Strasbourg 1-0.
On Sunday, Lens drew 4-4 with Reims, Loreint lost 2-0 at home to Nantes, Metz drew 1-1 with Dijon, Angers were 5-1 winners at Nimes, Monaco defeated Nice 2-1 while Olympique Lyon beat Saint Etienne 2-1.
