SC Villa maintained their unbeaten to start to the 2020/21 Uganda Premier League season with victory on Tuesday, December 09.
The Jogoos who held on to a draw in their opening game, made lightweight of Mbarara City FC ad they humbled them 3-0 at the Bombo Military Barracks Stadium in Bombo.
Summer signing Isaac Ogwang scored twice after Derrick Ndahiro had handed the hosts the lead.
From the on-set, Villa looked the better side as they dominated play and created some decent chances.
They would get the break through after 20 minutes through Ndahiro who converted from the spot after Amir Kakomo had been fouled.
Ogwang increased the Jogoos’ advantage scoring his first and Villa’s second at the half hour mark.
Ogwang then added another on 37 minutes after he was teed up by the impressive Goffin Oyirwoth.
It was a great result for Villa who handed home debuts to upto five players, from the start.
“We have managed to play our first home game and it is good that we have won it. Said Villa head coach Edward Kaziba after the game.
“It is a good start especially due to the fact that we fielded some new players who have performed extremely well.
“Hopefully our performance will get even better in future.”
The result means Villa moves onto four points from their opening two games following a 1-1 draw away to BUL FC last week.
For Mbarara City, they are in 11th with just a single point from two games. The Ankole Lions drew 1-1 at home to URA FC in their opening game.
In their next fixtures, SC Villa are away to URA FC on Saturday, a day after Mbarara City takes on KCCA FC at Lugogo.
