Busoga United FC vs Vipers SC
FUFA Technical Center, Njeru
Sunday, 20-12-2020 @3:30pm
Vipers SC will be out to avoid a slip up when they travel away to Busoga United FC on Sunday, December 20.
The Venoms who have so far played just two games in the Uganda Premier League this season, have a chance to climb up the table after several results went their way on both Friday and Saturday.
Victory for them at Njeru may see Fred Kajoba’s side climb into 7th spot despite starting the day in 11th.
However, it is not an easy fixture away to Busoga United as the Venoms have only won it once in history. The victory came last season in a hard fought 1-0 result on 2nd November 2019.
In the other three games that they have been away to the Students, Vipers have lost twice and drawn the other.
Speaking ahead of the game, Kajoba appreciated that Busoga are a stubborn side but he hopes his side can get all three points.
“They are a stubborn side and going by their recent results, you may look at them as underdogs but we know what they can be capable of and we don’t intend to leave anything to chance. Said Kajoba as quoted by Vipers.com.
“We hope we can have an improved performance and get the 3 points because it’s very important for us.”
Ahead of the game, Vipers captain Halid Lwaliwa has returned and will make the match day squad. Karim Watambala, Milton Karisa and Abraham Ndugwa are all stille available. Rashid Toha also remains unavailable along with Livingstone Mulondo, Jacob Okao and Ahmed Amayo.
For Busoga, they come into the game desperate for points after a very slow start to the season.
The Students who sit second from bottom, are yet to win a game and have already lost three this campaign. The only game they avoided defeat was in the 1-1 draw at home to Kyetume FC on match-day three.
The club has been rocked by internal issues that have forced some players to abscond from duty but head coach Abby Kikomeko claims they are now starting to return.
“This is our last game this year. In our first games, we did not play bad but some of the players are just coming back and our fitness levels are still not good enough. He noted.
“Ahead of our game against Vipers, we have tried to ensure that all our players are back so as we try and see that we get a good result and i am sure we will produce a good performance and get all three points.”
Busoga are expected to welcome back Dan Ssewava, Shafick Kakeeto, Ismail Muguluso who have all returned to the team after missing the last few games.
This will be the 8th meeting between the two sides with Vipers winning four and losing only once in the previous 7 encounters.
