Hippos 0-1 Cameroon
NOUAKCHOTT – Uganda lost 0-1 to Cameroon at the ongoing Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Mauritania on Wednesday in the second Group A game, making it 1-1; and creating an open chance against hosts Mauritania when both sides next meet on Saturday.
The Uganda Hippos matched their counterparts for the better part of the game but Junior Jang’s struck on the 31st minute mark was good enough for the Cameroonians.
The Cameroonian took advantage of Uganda’s gaps in the defence to head off a corner as the Hippos lost to hand a Coach Morley Byekwaso a hill’s task in the Saturday encounter. The beat Mozambique 2-0 in their first game and a win against Mauritania on Saturday will propel them to the next stage of the championship..
The Hippos looked better from the sound of the kick-off whistle with Richard Basangwa and Bobosi Byaruhanga registering their physical appearance on the pitch but the Cameroonian were resisted any attacks until a mistake created the difference.
Uganda’s technical team’s introduction of Ivan Asaba for Najib Yiga created little impact while Sam Ssenyonjo who replaced Derrick Kakooza could hardly be felt.
