KAMPALA – The StarTimes Uganda Premier League action return over the weekend with eight fixtures on the card, spread in different parts of the country.
On Friday, money-spenders – Wakiso Giants FC will be on the road to the west to face Mbarara City at Kakyeeka stadium.
This will be the first game for the Sharks since the league went into break on December 19 in the aftermath of a disappointing 2-2 draw with Bright Stars.
According to Wakiso Giants’ official website, Hassan Wasswa Dazo returns from suspension after he missed the last game for accumulating three yellow cards. But Simon Namwanja has been ruled out with an injury while Alex Komakech faces a late fitness test to feature.
Former Vipers SC, KCCA FC star player – Tom Masiko could play his first game in over a year after returning from a long injury lay-off.
Kipson Atuheire is line to make his debut after satisfying the coaching staff but Ivan Bogere, another new signing is out, as he is still on national duty with the U-20 team in Mauritania.
“We are certainly looking for nothing other than a win. We know it’s going to be a very tough game but we feel we have prepared well and have a much better balance in our squad, especially upfront…..so we are confident but we need to work extremely hard,” revealed head coach Douglas Bamweyana.
The Purple Sharks have picked a point from each of their five games to position themselves tenth on the 16-team table.
Mbarara City are placed 13th with three points, following three draws and two losses in their five outings.
New Comers and table league leaders – UPDF travel on Saturday to Kitende to face defending Champions – Vipers SC in an expected thriller on the evening while URA FC host unpredictable Express FC on Sunday.
