Uganda Kobs were ejected from the 2021 CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup on Saturday, July 24 after drawing 1-1 with Tanzania.
It was a second successive draw for the Kobs who had fired blanks against DR Congo (0-0), the previous Sunday in their opening game.
They could have taken the lead on 15 minutes but Steven Mukwala failed to convert from the spot.
Morley Byekwaso’s side eventually fell behind on the half-hour mark thanks to Israel Bajan’s penalty after Musa Ramathan committed a foul in the area.
Mukwala made amends on 40 minutes, pouncing onto poor defending to equalise for Uganda.
From there on-wards, the Kobs pushed for a winner but it never looked like coming even after Abdallah Salim and Ivan Bogere were introduced on 70 minutes.
Uganda ends the group stage in second spot with two points, two behind leaders Tanzania.
As Uganda plans for the classification games, Tanzania booked a berth in the semi-finals and will face South Sudan as Kenya play Burundi at the last four stage.
