
Uganda U23 National team, Kobs, head coach Morley Byekwaso has noted that his team needs to prepare well for their opening match of the CECAFA U23 Challenge Cup.
Uganda will take on DR Congo on Sunday, July 18 in the opening game of this year’s tournament.
The Kobs who travelled to Ethiopia on Wednesday, conducted their first training session on Thursday afternoon.
Speaking after the session, Byekwaso thanked God for ensuring that the it (session) went well before noting that they need to prepare well for their first game.
“We thank God who enabled us to arrive yesterday in Ethiopia safe and be able to conduct our first training well. Byekwaso said as quoted by FUFA media.
“It is good that we have not had any injuries or illness. We pray that God enables us continue in the same vain as we prepare for our first game against DR Congo because they are not an easy side and they are strong. We hope that we attain victory.”
Uganda takes on DR Congo in theirs and the tournament’s opening game on Sunday, July 18.
Their final group game will see them face East African neighbours Tanzania seven days later.
The last time the tournament was hosted in Ethiopia, Uganda beat Rwanda 1-0 in the final to win their 14th title back in 2015.
