URA FC have appointed for captain Simeone Masaba as their new head coach.
Masaba replaces Sam Simbwa whose contract expired on June 30. It is understood that negotiations over a new deal proved fruitless thus Simbwa moving on.
The former URA FC captain will take over on interim basis until a new coach is found.
Masaba has been serving as Ssimbwa’s assistant since returning to the club in 2020.
The tax collectors and Ssimbwa failed to compromise on a new deal and they decided to end a three year relationship that started at the back end of the 2017/2018 season.
The club confirmed that they are in a process to have a permanent coach appointed but Masaba will be required to prepare the team for the upcoming CAF confederation cup where they will represent Uganda next month.
Last season, URA finished in 2nd spot, one point below eventual winners Express FC.
