KAMPALA: Talented youth hailing from Ibanda North constituency have an open opportunity to feature for Vipers SC in the Ugandan elite top-class football league, the area’s aspiring member of parliament, MP Innocent Tumukwatsibwe, a.k.a. Kasomore, has disclosed.
Tumukwatsibwe, who early this week led two youth selected from the Kasomore Christmas Cup for trials at St. Mary’s SS-Kitende, said besides fulfilling his pledge of assisting youth within the Ibanda North constituency in exploiting their talents, he was duty-bound to turn the area into a sports powerhouse.
According to Tumukwatsibwe, Collins Muhangi and Titus Beinomugisha beat a pool of other talented youth to qualify for trials at Kitende.
“We had very many players selected during the Kasomore Cup, but due to competition, only two managed to go for trials (at Kitende), and their performances were very impressive. Collins was successful, but we were advised that since he is in a candidate class, we shouldn’t interrupt his studies, so he would join Kitende next year at A’ level,” revealed an excited aspiring MP.
“Our target and emphasis is to have as many talents as possible, featuring for various clubs, so our coaches are trying their best to fix these youth into different schools, especially within western Uganda and Kampala, where they can have playing time and improve on their skills,” said Tumukwatsibwe, who plans to dislodge veteran politician Xavier Akampurira Kyooma from the constituency as MP.
“We want the youth of Ibanda North to exploit their talent, and as early as we emphasised, that goal is attainable, especially after our test through the Kasomore Christmas Cup,” he said.
