Kampala, Uganda – Victoria University’s rugby team, the Victoria Sharks, delivered a resounding 34-9 victory over the Warriors in an away fixture at Legends Grounds, Lugogo.
The commanding win, which marked the team’s fourth game of the season, saw the Sharks dominate the second half with ease, despite initial challenges.
“We are thrilled with the team’s performance,” said Mr. Ssebuliba Patrick, Head of Sports at Victoria University Uganda. “Their resilience in the face of strong resistance from the Warriors in the first half was impressive.”
However, Patrick noted that a few players sustained injuries due to the intense physicality of the game.
Team captain Paul Epillo expressed confidence in the team’s progress, stating that the Sharks remain on course to break into the top five teams in the league.
“We are determined to maintain our winning momentum,” Epillo said. “Our goal was to secure a bonus point, which we achieved thanks to strong teamwork.”
The Victoria Sharks now shift their focus to their next match against the Kobs on Saturday, which will determine their standing in the league as they continue their push for a top five finish.
The team’s victory has boosted morale among fans and students at Victoria University, who are eagerly anticipating the next match.
